Float Nurse, District Wide – 24-25 school year

Hutchinson Public Schools has an opening for a Float Nurse (RN, LPN) to work in our District buildings alongside the Assistant Director of Health Services-Licensed School Nurse and building health staff. 

Position begins after July 1 with some training to be done before the regular schedule begins with the new school year.

Position Purpose: The float nurse will provide practical nursing expertise to support educational progress of all students by minimizing or removing health-related barriers to learning, while promoting a safe environment for all students and staff. Duties are to be performed in accordance with standards of professional nurse practice, district/state board of education policies and procedures and Minnesota State law regarding nurse practice.

Duties include: assisting with health office coverages, medication administration, triage for illness and injury, assisting with annual health screenings, immunization review, maintaining student records, monitoring for communicable diseases and managing students with chronic health conditions and special education needs, chart audit support, trainings, field trip preparation/support, inventory support as well as other duties assigned by supervisor.
