ROCORI Secondary school is seeking a qualified applicant for a FTE 1.0 Family/Consumer Science teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. 

This teaching position will have high school courses in the Family and Consumer Science department. Qualified applicants will have a current Minnesota teaching license.

Duties/Responsibilities:

–          Teaches District approved curriculum daily.

–          Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil daily.

–          Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

–          Translates lesson plans into developmentally-appropriate learning experiences daily.

–          Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.

–          Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals daily.

–          Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc. and communicates these objectives to students.

–          Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities daily.

–          Assists students in establishing and maintaining standards of behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere daily.

–          Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports as appropriate and required.

–          Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and assists in developing strategies for individual education plans daily as needed.

–          Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner daily as needed.

–          Communicates regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day byvarious means such as newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc. daily as needed.

–          Plans, coordinates and supervises the work of teacher associates, parents and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips as needed.

–          Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policyand administrative regulations.

–          Participates on school committees as needed.

–          Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: 

–          Bachelor’s degree in Education or related.

–          Teaching certification in related field required.

–          Effective written and verbal communication skills.

–          Ability to work with core subject matter concepts and apply concepts to practical

            situations.

–          Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and

            parents.

–          Strong planning and organizational skills.

–          Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment.

–          Knowledge and experience using varied computer applications and applied

             technology experience.
