General Purpose of Job: To inspire and prepare each scholar with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.

The goal of the K-12 Extended School Year (ESY) services is to help students maintain their current level of functioning. ESY service providers will address areas of need through using instructional materials provided by service providers who work with the student during the course of the regular school year.
 
The Extended School Year (ESY) program will be held on the following dates: July 1 – July 25, 2024, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday  mornings.  An required ESY orientation meeting will be held June 24th, on site at 8am, set up and prep time will also be available.  Class sessions will last for three hours.  Licensed providers will be given thirty minutes of prep time before and thirty minutes after each class session.

Responsibilities: Position provides instruction and support in the curriculum areas for which employed; make appropriate use of instructional resources and technologies; implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school and/or program for which employed; and maintain contact and communications with parents of students in the ESY program. The instructor will design, deliver and assess curriculum according to the district guidelines. The teacher must be a team player.

Required Qualifications: Valid Minnesota teaching license in Special Education or Related Service

Desired Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of the curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
  • Considerable knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, current researched best practices and strategies.
  • Considerable knowledge of students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and affective.
  • Considerable knowledge of multicultural, gender and disability fair curriculum concepts.
  • Working knowledge of instructional technologies.
  • Considerable skill in classroom management, record keeping and organization.
