Assignment:  
Excelsior Elementary
                       
40 hours per week, 12 months per year
Split Shift during he school year from 6:30am-9:30am and 1-6pm
Straight shift in the summer

Wages:                                   
Starting at $21.65/hour
This position is eligible for split shift differential payment.
This position qualifies for a stipend from a DHS Stabilization Grant.

Primary Objective of Positions:
Assist in supervising a high quality childcare program.  Act as a Lead Explorers staff of a specific age group.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop an environment that allows children to assume responsibility for mastering human interactions, making choices, respecting the rights of others, and participating successfully in groups.
  2. Develop and prepare enriching classroom activities and program goals consistent with Creative Curriculum development and learning objectives
  3. In the absence of the Site Supervisor, supervise and direct the performance of the Explorers program including all Lead Instructors, Program Leaders, Program Assistants and Behavior Assistants working with Explorers. 
  4. Establish effective communication with staff, parents, and school personnel to identify/ solve problems. 
  5. Maintain program standards of behavior to ensure student safety and proper functioning of the classroom. Observe and implement student behavior modifications. 
  6. Participate in staff development and training. 
  7. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Job Qualifications:

  1. B.A. or B.S. degree in early childhood education; certification / licensure or a related field preferred.
  2. Evidence of successful experience working in a team setting.
  3. Evidence of successful experience in a childcare or educational setting for preschool aged children.
  4. Evidence of skills in using technology in curriculum.
  5. Evidence of successful experiences with inclusion initiatives.
  6. Evidence of strong child and parent relationships.
  7. Current Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification.
  8. Complete CCAP required training prior to first day of employment. 
  9. Complete a required number of staff development hours annually.
  10. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  11. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  12. Proven record of punctuality and responsibility.
  13. Strong communication skills and positive interpersonal skills (relates well to children and adults) as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
