Description

East Range Academy of Technology of Science (ERATS) is searching for a 1.0 FTE Executive Director for the 2024-2025 school year.

ERATS is a Minnesota public charter school located in Mt. Iron.  The school is in a new building and services about 150 students in grades 9-12.  ERATS has been in operation since 2007 and is authorized by Osprey Wilds. www.mnerats.org

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Minimum 4-year degree in the relevant area. Administrator licensure or coursework is preferred but not required.

  2. At least 3 years of District-level administrative experience in a public K-12 education system, with substantial knowledge of employment and legal issues.

  3. Experience with charter schools and school leadership is preferred.

  4. Experience with curriculum and instruction

  5. Ability to write/manage grants

  6. Experience working with multi-million dollar budgets and non-profit organizations

  7. Ability to work effectively with parents, teachers, teacher teams, and other support staff.

  8. Perceives the needs and concerns of others. Deals tactfully with others in emotionally stressful situations crises or conflicts.  Relates to people of varying backgrounds.

  9. Reaches logical conclusions and makes high-quality decisions based on available information. Gives priority and caution to significant issues. Seeks out relevant data, facts, and impressions. Analyzes and interprets complex information.

    Executive Director  Job Description

    The employee shall faithfully perform the services prescribed by the school board, whether or not such services are specifically described in this job description, and abide by the rules and regulations established by the school board and the State of Minnesota. The board may change job descriptions and duties anytime during the school year. 

    Duties for All Staff:

  16. Attend all staff meetings and professional development training

  17. Actively participate in the recruitment of students

    1. Includes organizing and participating in enrollment opportunities

    2. Includes formal and informal events and educational opportunities

  18. Work with businesses, colleges, and community members to provide student opportunities

  19. Act as a school representative at professional functions as needed

  20. Be professional by being on time for school, classes, and meetings and managing absences

  21. Adhere to East Range Academy of Technology & Science policies and procedures

 

Director Duties

Leadership Responsibilities

1. Responsible for the mission and vision of the school 

2. Responsible for Strategic Planning (with the school board) 

3. Attend Board Meetings 

4. Oversee policies and statutes

5. Point of Contact for school 

 

Budget Responsibilities

1. Responsible for budget planning and revisions (with the business office)

2. General claim reimbursement approval/purchase authorizer

3. Access checking accounts to report balances to the Board 

4. Responsible for administration of salaries (with business office)

5. Title I Coordinator

 

Administrative Duties

1. Responsible for writing all MDE reports/surveys and uploading documents to 

Epicenter

2. Coordinate the Annual Report for MDE and World’s Best Work Force Annual Report to the authorizer

3. Post required reports and documents to MDE

4. MDE Organizational site manager

5. Attend MACS director Meetings and authorizer meetings as needed

6. SERVS authorizer

7. Create a yearly school calendar 

 

Staff Responsibilities

1. Direct supervisor of staff/teachers (not including paraprofessionals)

2. Responsible for professional development planning

3. Responsible for Personalized Learning Communities (PLCs)

4. Create an agenda for staff meetings and run meetings 

5. Coordinate contract renewal and salaries for all staff

6. Post job openings and interview candidates (with the human relations department)

7. Q-Comp Site Team Member and Coordinator

8. Evaluate teachers and staff (not including paraprofessionals)

9. Curriculum planning and development coordinator

 

Student Responsibilities

1. Create student/teacher class schedules

2. Complete student credit checks, student transcripts, student schedules, and meeting with parents

3. PSEO coordinator and transcriptor

 

Other Duties

1. Oversee food service (work with the food coordinator)

2.  MN Common Course Catalog Coordinator

3. Frontline management coordinator (with human relations)

4. Brightarrow point of contact and emergency messaging (when needed)

5. Attend Training as necessary

6. School closing as necessary

7. Run school drills (fire, lockdown, tornado, etc.)
