Description

Job summary:  Assist the classroom teacher with instructional tasks, working directly and indirectly with students.  These tasks will constitute the major portion of the Educational Support Professional time.  
 

Responsibilities and tasks include: 

 

  • Assist the Principal, School Counselors, and Instructional Assistants with social-emotional learning and behavior support to individual students.
  • Under the supervision of the school counselor, social worker, assist with small friendship or kindness groups.
  • Work directly with students individually or in small groups on academic and motor or social skills, e.g., math, science, English, color recognition, decision making, self-esteem building, etc.
  • Assist students and teachers in large group activities/projects such as art, physical education, dramatics.
  • Seek out special instructional materials to assist with students having particular learning problems, e.g., separate math skill worksheet, not a part of teacher’s curriculum.
  • Type worksheets, tests, or various instructional material; duplicate and assemble.
  • Basic knowlegde of iPads, Chromebooks, and Google Suite
  • Correct tests via computer.  Record results in grade books.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by principal or designee.

 

Minimum qualifications include: 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with students.
  • Computer and word processing experience helpful.
  • Applicants meet the Highly Qualified requirement if they have:
    • Two years of study at an institution of higher education; Minnesota’s standard; A minimum of 60 semester credits or the amount required to complete two years of full-time enrollment as determined by the institution attended OR
    • An Associate’s (or higher) degree; Minnesota’s standard: An AA, AS, AAS, (or higher) degree OR
    • Received a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment.
  • Must be highly qualified (HQ) within 30 days from the date of employment https://education.mn.gov/MDE/dse/Para/ 
    • District will pay for the exam and up to 10 hours of prep and exam time.

Work schedule: 6 hours/day;
