  • Engagement Specialists will implement a comprehensive intervention program to enhance students’ engagement and success in school.  Work is performed under the direction of the Elementary Dean of Students in collaboration with building Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) teams.  This opportunity is ideal for someone energized by challenging work and able to work collaboratively across lines of difference with sensitivity to diversity and inclusiveness.

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Elementary Dean of Students, building administrators, MTSS teams and  students to develop individualized service plans to improve student engagement.
  • Implement social, emotional, and behavioral interventions under the direction of the Elementary Dean of Students, Resource Specialist and building MTSS teams.
  • Monitor student progress on assigned interventions.
  • Communicate the importance of student engagement and school attendance with students.
  • Maintain necessary records (ensuring confidentiality of students and their families) and prepare related reports.
  • Build relationships as part of a practical mentoring approach.
  • Help students participate in school.
  • Helps students navigate school and track progress.
  • Personalize interventions and target strategies to meet student’s needs, including but not limited to social-emotional, behavioral, and attendance interventions. 
  • Work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other adults to support students.
  • Collaborate with leadership.
  • Helps students set personal education goals.
  • Allows students to problem solve and successfully meet everyday demands of the school environment.
  • Help students persist in the face of challenges.
  • Engage in implementation training on the Check and Connect Model and SEL interventions. 
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
