Description

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of Elementary Science Specialist Teacher at Lincoln Elementary School and Kaposia Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. Salary placement is based on education and experience as indicated in Teachers’ Collectively Bargained Agreement. 
 
Job Summary
Deliver district approved curriculum to designated grade levels of elementary students based on master schedule for the school.  
 
Job Functions 

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and exploration.
  • Develop engaging lesson plans and curriculum materials aligned with grade- level science standards.  
  • Deliver effective instruction through a variety of teaching methods, such as hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and interactive activities.
  • Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including quizzes, tests, projects and observations.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with IEP, language supports and gifted and talented. 
  • Integrate technology and SAMR (Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition) model to enhance instruction and student learning.
  • Foster inquiry-based learning through questioning, critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Establish partnerships and incorporate real-world applications and connections around the world of science and engineering.
  • Communicate and cultivate relationships with students, staff, families and community around student progress, activities and events.
  • Stay current with development in science education, including new teaching strategies, curriculum standards and educational research.
  • Participate and present professional development opportunities
  • Supervise and facilitate science related materials, activities and/or field trips
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations. 
  • Support the district’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Valid MN Elementary teaching license. Science licensure or emphasis is preferred. 
  • Must exhibit strong interest and deep knowledge of science and experience in teaching elementary science. 
  • Must have passion for outdoor education and be willing to teach outdoors during all the seasons.
  • Qualified candidates should possess strong technology knowledge and skills in the classroom and knowledge of the new state Science standards.
  • Must have high-level planning, organization, and collaboration skills with a desire to create innovation hands-on, relevant science opportunities for students. 
  • Demonstrate collaboration and relationship building skills. 
  • Commitment to working effectively with culturally, economically and socially diverse students and families. 
  • Strong communication skills verbally, orally and written. 
  • Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students. 

 
Physical Requirements 
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach  with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision.
