Job Summary

Working under the guidance of the building Principal, the Licensed Teacher encompasses a diverse range of instructional positions. Their primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop lesson plans and deliver district curriculum in assigned subjects

  • Instruct students using developed lesson plans and instructional materials

  • Evaluate and assess student progress to ensure alignment with instructional objectives

  • Collaborate with other professionals, administrators, parents, counselors, and district personnel

  • Address student needs, tackle issues, support district initiatives, and contribute to the curriculum

Assignment: Certified

Essential Functions

  • Delivers classroom instruction aligned with district curriculum guidelines

  • Adjust difficulty levels as needed

  • Regularly assesses student progress and adjusts instructional plans accordingly

  • Teaches specific learning objectives

  • Utilizes various teaching techniques to meet diverse student needs

  • Plans and develops instructional materials, lessons, experiments, and support activities

  • Determines student needs and selects effective instructional methods

  • Organizes classroom supplies and maintains an optimal learning environment

  • Evaluate student performance against learning objectives and conduct parent-teacher conferences

  • Maintains student discipline and promotes a structured classroom environment

  • Provides instructional leadership and support to staff

  • Collaborates with educators and administrators to address student needs and explore new approaches

  • Participates in committees, meetings, and IEP discussions

  • Performs additional duties as required

  • Offers professional expertise and assistance to individuals and the community

  • Attends training sessions and meetings to stay informed about educational developments

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of teaching principles, practices, techniques, and approaches

  • Knowledge of child development theories, stages, and needs

  • Awareness of current trends, theories, and learning technologies

  • Familiarity with assessment procedures, techniques, and evaluation methods

  • Proficiency in subject matter relevant to assigned grade or subject

  • Knowledge of office software for record-keeping and file management

  • Familiarity with instructional technologies and tools for teaching and assessment

  • Proficiency in planning and developing lesson plans according to the curriculum

  • Ability to design assessment tools and evaluate student performance

  • Effective communication with parents, students, staff, and professionals

  • Handling interactions with various stakeholders on student-related matters

  • Providing advice and recommendations to district administrators or committees

Supervision of Other Employees:

While this position does not entail direct supervision of other employees, it does provide indirect supervision for the Paraprofessional(s) in the classroom.

(Summary: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects in the performance of the job.) 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a relevant instructional subject area(s).

 

License:

Licensed in the State of Minnesota in the instructional area.
 

Experience:

Minimum completion of an assigned internship/practice teaching experience and degree program. 

Knowledge of outdoor instructional methods suitable for Early Childhood to grade 6.

Ability to collaborate with teachers in planning outdoor experiences aligned with community culture and state Standards, and fostering Healthy Risk-Taking.

Strong organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines, manage student groups, and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
