East African Student, Family, and Community Engagement Specialist

Preferred Educational Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Required: High school diploma or equivalent. 

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Multicultural Studies, Counseling or related field.

Preferred Experience:

Two years’ experience working with families across cultures, preferably in a school setting.

Position Qualifications:

Proficient in Somali, and/or Arabic, and English – both speaking and writing

Experience building relationships with and supporting parents across cultures

Experience interpreting in a professional setting

Experience working with educators to build on the cultural and linguistic qualities and strengths that students bring to their classrooms

Knowledge of and experience with the American education system

Knowledge of and comfort sharing the Somali culture

Ability to work in a team environment, take work direction from and collaborate with a broad range of district employees and teams

Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish boundaries in working with students and families

Interest in and ability to learn new computer and technology skills 

Ability to travel to different locations within the Stillwater community

Work Schedule:
175 days per year, 7.0 hours per day

Hourly Rate:
Technical Support Terms and Conditions Level II – $21.10 – $23.23 per hour
