Job Title: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
Supervisor: Director / Special Education Coordinator
Job Summary: Plan for and provide appropriate instruction for special education students.
Responsibilities:
- Implement the goals and objectives of the school in relation to special education.
- Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.Â
- Utilizes instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task.Â
- Develops and implements Individual Education Programs.
- Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs.Â
- Communicates effectively with parents on a regular basis.Â
- Meets professional responsibilities and maintains and upgrades professional skills and work habits.Â
- Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.Â
- Follow school curriculum outlines/guidelines and/or state standards for curriculum areas.
- Promote student achievement; maintain required student records; make related reports to the special education coordinator as prescribed.
- Perform classroom management duties; enforce school rules governing the conduct of students; take appropriate disciplinary action with students who do not follow rules.
- Serves as member of CTARS/child find team.
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned by the Special Education Coordinator/Director.Â
- Follow procedures and processes within the special education department.
- Service other students with IEPs as needed.
- Conduct initial and reevaluations of students.
?QUALIFICATIONS:
- A valid Minnesota teaching license is prefered in Special Education, will consider Tier 1, Tier 2 or out of licensure applicants.Â
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and parents, and an ability toÂ
- work cooperatively with others.Â
- Ability to motivate students and get them excited about learning.Â
- 3 or more years of special education and/or classroom teaching experience preferred
