The Brooklyn Center Community School (BCCS) District is seeking a part time and full time Early Childhood Special Education Teacher  to join our team for the remainder of the 2024-2025 school year.  BCCS is looking for positive, energetic applicants with a deep belief that every student can learn, and having the commitment and passion to provide these learning opportunities. This position emphasizes teaching, evaluating and supporting our youngest learners and their families receiving Special Education services. For the upcoming school year, the position will focus primarily on ages 3-5 and elementary students supported through ECSE, though the position may also include supporintg Birth-3 students and families depending on community need.

Essential Job Responsibilities Summary:

  • Create welcoming and positive environments for students and families to learn and grow
  • Assist team with new student enrollments, referrals, and evaluations
  • Take on role of Family Service Coordinator for assigned students
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate early childhood instructional programming Birth-age 5
  • Provide direct and indirect serivces and supports in students’ homes, onsite at school, and within the community
  • Implement Special Education procedures for assessment, placement, documentation, and development of IFSP/IEPs
  • Support family engagement and education through IFSP/IEPs and provide information and resources to families as appropriate
  • Utilize evidence-based practices and data collection to guide daily practice
  • Facilitate transitions from Part C to Part B and from prek to kindergarten
  • Work collaboratively with team members and administrators
  • Participate in building, team, and district trainings and meetings as required 

 

  Qualifications:

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license for Early Childhood Special Education

  • Knowledge of Early Childhood disabilities and appropriate interventions.

  • Experience in teaching young children.

  • Ability to work cooperatively on a team with other professionals. 

  • Expertise in Early Childhood Evaluations.

Salary: Competitive Pay Based on Salary Schedule
Duty Days: 197 for new staff, 193 continuing contract
