Early Childhood Family Education/School Readiness Preschool Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Valid teaching license in Parent and Family Education and/or Early Childhood Education
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community education mission
  • Demonstrate customer and human relations skills
  • Demonstrate supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Skill in identifying and responding to community needs and concerns
  • Ability to partner with parents and school district staff to meet needs
  • Skill in use of computers (Google Docs, Student Information Systems)
  • Demonstrated writing, planning and organizational skills
  • Skill in working with school district budgets

Reports to: Director of Community Education

Job Goals: Coordinate a comprehensive program that provides ECFE, School Readiness Preschool and parent education to district residents.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Promote and communicate a positive image of Centennial Schools and the Community Education department with internal and external customers.
  • Plan and implement early childhood programs in accordance with policies, philosophies and goals of Community Education, Early Childhood, and Centennial School District.
  • Plan and deliver programs and services for families with children aged birth to five. Oversee day-to-day operations and monitor implementation and evaluation of programming.
  • Recruit, interview, select, supervise, schedule, and evaluate preschool staff and administrative assistant.. Work with the Human Resources Department for consultation regarding staffing, investigations and discipline issues. Plan and manage ECFE/SR/ECS budgets, including ordering supplies
  • Complete ECFE/SR/ECS state reports and submit them to the Community Education Director, Superintendent, and MN Department of Education.
  • Plan, implement, and participate in staff development and attend educational meetings, seminars and workshops.
  • Represent Centennial Early Childhood on district, county, and statewide committees.
  • Attend educational meetings, conferences and workshops related to early childhood.
  • Oversee the preparation of essential program, class, event, and workshop information for publication in newsletters, brochures and flyers to market early childhood programs
  • Facilitate staff meetings for early childhood staff
  • Support the coordination of parent education activities and special events district-wide including on-site activities and early childhood field trips.
  • Collaborate with Early Childhood Special Education for student placements, inclusion and co-teaching, implementation of grants, student needs, IEPs, etc. Service all students with IEPs to ensure accommodations and inclusion plans are followed in partnership with ECSE.
  • Partner with area private preschools and daycare centers to share resources
  • Serve as an early childhood representative at the district level when working with the Teaching & Learning Department, special education, K-12 administration and staff, family advocates, and business office.
  • Perform program outreach by seeking out and collaborating with other service providers, businesses, parks and recreation, non-profit organizations, and K-12 staff
  • Work with Director of Community Education and other staff members in areas such as ongoing needs assessment, surveys, program evaluations, budgets, program and events planning and implementation, and policy development.
  • Show proficiency in student management systems including Eleyo (monitoring enrollment and supervision of the registration process), ELSA (management and invoicing of Early Learning Scholarships), School Messenger, Schoology, and Infinite Campus (student information and attendance).
  • Coordinate Prek-3rd grade alignment.
  • Approve leave time and timesheets and monitor unfilled absences and subbing
  • Oversee the implementation and use of Minnesota state approved curriculum andassessment for preschool and make changes as necessary.
  • Maintain and submit Parent Aware rating applications, Pathway Early LearningScholarship applications, and grants (including the Early ID grant) to appropriate countyand state entities.
  • Report screening data to the MN Department of Education
  • Collaborate with family advocate and liaisons to offer equitable services to all families
  • Perform other related functions as assigned by the Director of Community Education orother designated representative.

Physical Requirements
Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Position may require a significant amount of walking or standing in order to work directly with children.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
