Position Title: Early Childhood, Educational Assistant

Assignment Specifications: 10:00am-2:30pm, school days only, 2024-25 School Year

Classification: A-1-3, $14.13-$15.34/hour hiring range

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Community Education and direct supervision of the supervising teacher, the Early Childhood Educational Assistant may monitor and escort students, conduct material preparation, reinforce previously taught lessons, clean the classroom, and assist with student hygiene needs. The person in this position may also assist in organizing parent/guardian drop-in activities and conduct early childhood screening using appropriate tools under the direction of the teacher. The Early Childhood Educational Assistant does not have responsibility or authority for making decisions about any aspect of a student’s educational program.Â

Qualifications: Minimum of high school level academic skills. HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent required. Must have demonstrated skills or experience in supervising student behavior and applying consistent consequences for appropriate and inappropriate behaviors; using basic office equipment; effectively presenting information in 1:1 and/or small group situations to students concerning district/program routines, policies, rules, learning principles, concepts and other lesson plans. Must have the ability to work independently. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work with staff and members of the public with sensitivity and tact. Must have a demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies in a positive manner and the ability to work independently and maintain a high level of confidentiality. Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs and work at low levels or on the floor.Â
