Position:  Special Education Due Process Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • Minnesota Licensure in Special Education K-12
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, administration and the general public;
  • Knowledgeable regarding relevant learning technology and proficient in its use;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; 
  • Experience and proficiency in the implementation of current best practices in instruction and learning
  • A passion for supporting students regulate their emotions and behavior to reach their highest potential.
  • Ability to use the Resource Model and small group support as needed.
  • Experience with evaluations preferred.
  • Intercultural competence, including the ability to effectively teach students from diverse racial and cultural backgrounds

Primary Funtions:

Primary Evaluations:

  • Meet with parents and other interested parties
  • Set up evaluation team, responsible for due process documents
  • Responsible (with school psychologist) for testing and writing of reports

Re-evaluation:

  • WJ-IV, TPI, Observations, FBA in consultation with case-manager
  • Consult with case managers to determine support needs per assessment
  • Other assessments as needed for Specialized Program evaluations (Brigance, reading or math probes)

Other duties:

  • Child Study Team Member – assist with pre-interventions
  • Enrollment – meet with parents and guidance at enrollment meeting, review IEP’s and evaluations from other schools before enrollment
  • Administrative designee – occasional
