Delano Public Schools has a full-time (1.0 FTE) assignment as a District/School Nurse available beginning with the 2024-25 school year.
Job Summary:
This position will supervise three school nurses, along with district/high school nursing duties.
Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty/responsibility:
- Provide assessment, planning, implementation, outcome identification, evaluation and reassessment for students with chronic health conditions in general and special education settings.
- Provides and/or delegates direct professional nursing service to students and staff such as first aid, illness and emergency care, medication administration and management/medicare treatments (i.e. g-tube feedings, catheterization) per physician’s orders and parent consent.
- Directs the functions of nurses assigned to the health office.
- Provides supervision for direct and indirect care.
- Provide mental health support including intervention and/or referral to appropriate school staff or community agencies.
- Enhance the educational process through modification or removal of health-related barriers to learning and by promoting student wellness.
- Makes appropriate assessments and referrals for suspected abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Assist students and parents in identifying and utilizing available and appropriate community health resources.
Qualifications: This position requires a valid Minnesota Department of Education license as a School Nurse. Bachelor of Science-Nursing (BSN) and Public Health Nurse (PHN) registration required.
