Waubun-Ogema-White Earth District #435 is currently in search of a Full-time Cross Categorical Special Education Teacher (Grades 4-12) for the 2024-2025 school year. JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team. The Special Education Teacher will work collaboratively with other educators, administrators, and support staff to provide specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs.

ASSIGNMENT: Certified

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

  1. Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):

    1. Develop and implement effective IEPs tailored to the individual needs of students with disabilities.

    2. Collaborate with parents, guardians, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and collaborative approach to student success.

  2. Differentiated Instruction:

    1. Plan and deliver differentiated instruction to address various learning styles, abilities, and disabilities within the classroom.

    2. Use a variety of instructional strategies and materials to engage and motivate students.

  3. Classroom Management:

    1. Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes learning and respect.

    2. Implement effective behavior management strategies, reinforcing positive behavior and addressing challenges promptly.

  4. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

    1. Conduct ongoing assessments to measure student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

    2. Collaborate with the IEP team to review and analyze assessment data to inform instructional decisions.

  5. Collaboration and Communication:

    1. Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and support staff to ensure a cohesive and integrated educational experience for all students.

    2. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians, providing updates on student progress and addressing concerns.

  6. Professional Development:

    1. Stay informed about current trends, research, and best practices in special education.

    2. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

  7. Advocacy:

    1. Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities within the school community and in collaboration with external agencies.

    2. Collaborate with colleagues to create a school culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity.

 

Supervision of Other Employees: 

  • This position is not responsible for the supervision of other District employees.

Working Environment:

  • The Special Education Teacher will work in a classroom setting, collaborating with other educators and support staff. The role may involve adapting to various learning environments and addressing the unique needs of individual students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.

  • Previous experience in special education teaching or a related field is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of diverse learning needs and effective instructional strategies for students with disabilities.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
