Days: Monday thru Friday, 5.0 to 8.0 hours per day (20 to 40 hours per week)

Job Summary:

Assist Summer Camp coordinators and our summer classroom lead in all aspects of summer camp and Summer community ed day programming to ensure the delivery of hIgh-quality experiences.  Provide learning & behavioral support to campers for a summer program to ensure equitable and inclusive classrooms for all learners. Help maintain the safety and security of campers and facilities. Work with instructors/vendors, coaches, and group leaders with community education activities.

Essential job functions include the following:

         Assist in the day-to-day activities and operation of camp programs:

  • Work with the Camp coordinators, classroom leads, and vendors to ensure high-quality programs are delivered to participants.

  • Assist with in-person parent/guardians communication.

  • Assist with camper movement/supervision throughout the day including drop-off and pick-up hours & lunch bunch.

  • Assist with facilities/classrooms set up to ensure they are ready for the camp’s daily activities.

  • Assist with daily instruction of Summer Fun//Summer Middle School Sports and Fitness Sessions

  • Assist with student supervision on Friday Fun days, in collaboration with lead staff and summer camp coordinator

    Provide learning/behavioral support to campers for summer programs:

  • Work with the Camp coordinators, Summer SPED coordinators, classroom leads, and vendors to ensure inclusive classrooms for all student learners.

  • Work with the Camp coordinators, Summer SPED coordinators, classroom leads, and vendors to identify participants and implement support strategies to ensure participants’ success based on IEP, 504 and/or identified behavioral needs.
     

    Assist in Maintaining the Safety And Security Of participants and Facilities by

  • Monitoring participants and ensuring adherence to camp/field trip rules and policies. 

  • Responding appropriately to injuries and/or emergencies based on training; calling 911 if necessary.

  • Assists with completing/submitting required reports (accident/injury, facilities, Incident) to Community Education.

  • Remaining alert to potentially unsafe situations and notifying the Summer Camp Coordinator of unsafe conditions; stopping any unsafe or questionable activities.

  • Observes activities in and around the camp to help prevent property damage and theft. Reports illegal activities to the police and/or Summer Camp Coordinator.

  • Assist in monitoring classroom space conditions and reporting any issues.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety and emergency procedures for the building of assignment.

  • Assist in securing the building at the end of camp this includes ensuring that all facility users have left the premises, turning off lights, checking and locking appropriate doors, and notifying custodians of departure before leaving the building.

    Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Attending and participating in staff meetings and in-service training programs as requested

  • Performing other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.

  • Assist daily administrative tasks as assigned
     

           Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills –  email, word, database systems, etc.

  • Experience working and communicating with adults and children in an employment or volunteer setting.

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.

  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of applicable District requirements and Board of Education policies.  

  • Ability to observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.

  • Ability to confer with community education supervisor regarding needs, schedules and concerns.

  • Ability to complete Pediatric & Adult CPR/first Aid certifications and keep them up to date.

  • Knowledge of the mission, core values, and strategies of Mounds View Public schools. 

  • Must be available on a flexible schedule and work weekends

  • Willing to work at multiple locations.
     

    Physical Requirements:    

    Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Vision abilities required include close vision.
