Job Summary:  Ability to positively interact and build relationships with participants of diverse backgrounds while instructing, coaching or supporting Community education programs and activities

Essential job functions include the following:

  • Teach/coach/support fundamentals of Community Education programs and activities/sports as assigned
  • Emphasize social emotional learning aspects of Community Education that help participants learn, develop, and demonstrate the social, emotional, behavioral, attitudinal, and skills that lead to success in learning, play, friendships, relationships, life, work, and business. Provide a supportive environment during practices and games ensuring equal attention and game time for players regardless of skill level
  • Track participant attendance during including ensuring parent pick-up or busing for participants.
  • Maintaining the care of equipment/materials and proper storage.
  • Teach/coach/support daily needs of programs and activities including set up and take down.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Community Education Coordinator and/or Specialist.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  •  Previous experience working with students.
  • Previous experience with program subject or activity/sport.
  • Previous teaching/coaching experience preferred.
  • Teach basic to advanced fundamentals program subject or activity/sport.
  • Maintaining the care of equipment/materials and proper storage.

 
Physical Requirements:   
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
