Job Summary:

Provide excellent customer service to participants in Community Education classes/programs. Facilitate student arrival and departures from Community Education classes/programs.  Maintain the safety and security of participants while in the building. Assist instructors, coaches and group leaders with community education activities.  

Essential job functions include the following:

Provides excellent customer service to participants, instructors & coaches during community ed activities by:

  • Greeting participants in the morning for before school enrichment classes & activities andor gathering from homerooms for afterschool enrichment classes & activities and bringing them to class/program/event locations and check-in with instructors

  • Monitoring the activities of participants and support as needed

  • Accommodating whenever possible the special requests that participants, instructors, and coaches may have that were not anticipated

  • Communicating in a manner that serves to diffuse confrontations

  • Facilitate enrichment classes & activities participant dismissal to class (morning)  and/or pick-up (afternoon).

    Maintain safety and security of individuals and facilities by:

  • Unlock and control access to spaces as needed for class, program or event

  • Securing spaces at the end of shift includes ensuring that all participants, instructors & coaches have left the premises, turning off lights, checking and locking appropriate doors, and notifying custodians of departure before leaving the building

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety and emergency procedures for the building of assignment

  • Responding appropriately to emergencies and/or injuries; calling 911 if necessary

  • Responsible for minor Blood Borne cleanups

  • Promptly completing and submitting required reports (accident/injury reports, facilities report, Incident report) to Community Education

  • Remaining alert to potentially unsafe situations and notifying custodian of unsafe conditions; stopping any unsafe or questionable activities

  • Observe activities in and around the school to help prevent property damage and theft. Reports illegal activities to the police and Community Education facilities office

    Assist enrichment classes and other community activities:

  • Attendance – gather/return students to and from activities/classes

  • Facilitating student drop-off and pick-up 

  • Set-up may include AV equipment, chairs, tables, athletic equipment, operating automated bleachers as requested by the Instructor or coach

  • Restoring the spaces used to neat and original condition, notifying custodian of any extra garbage, and noting any equipment or supplies that were broken

    Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:

  • Attending and participating in staff meetings and in-service training programs as requested

  • Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned

  • High School graduate or equivalent

  • Basic computer skills –  email, word, database systems, etc.

  • Experience working and communicating with adults and children in an employment or volunteer setting

    Physical Requirements:  
     

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos

  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of applicable District requirements and Board of Education policies  

  • Ability to observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair

  • Ability to confer with the community education supervisor regarding needs, schedules and concerns

  • Ability to complete CPR/first Aid certifications and keep them up to date

  • Knowledge of the mission, core values, and strategies of Mounds View Public schools 

  • Must be available on a flexible schedule and work weekends

  • Willing to work at multiple locations
