Licensed Staff | On-site | 113624]]>Position InformationThis position teaches the 3 Unit CIEP Course - SPED 204 - Implementing Evidence Based Practices for Academic and Behavioral Intervention Strategies for Students with Moderate to Profound ASD and EBD during the Spring 2025 semester and is assigned to the Center for Intensive Educator Preparation.Nature of WorkCIEP Faculty Course Instructors are responsible for teaching all content standards as laid out in the course syllabus as assigned by the Unit. They are responsible for teaching adult students in assigned disciplines in classrooms, conference rooms, small groups, collaborative activities, in person, online or hybrid according to the course syllabus. Instructors are required to complete all required training for the unit within stated timelines. Instructors are responsible for conferring with the CIEP Program Coordinator, Administrative Assistant, and Unit Leader to ensure all necessary documentation is completed, and to administer all policies as written in the faculty, unit and candidate handbooks.Typical Class ResponsibilitiesImplements and delivers instructional activities to adult students in course SPED 204 titled Implementing Evidence Based Practices for Academic and Behavioral Intervention Strategies for Students with Moderate to Profound ASD and EBD; instructs and monitors students in the use of learning materials and resources; monitors and assesses student progress and competency mastery, which includes: identifying appropriate assessment methods; developing and administering tests; grading assigned student work; providing performance feedback; and performing other related activities.Develops, implements, and evaluates syllabus content and resources and texts; establishes learning objectives; prepares and evaluates lesson plans; evaluates and selects instructional resources and/or specialized resources; adapts materials and curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.Lectures, leads class discussions, and conducts other teaching activities during scheduled classesMaintains accurate and complete student records including grades, achievements, development, and attendance; ensures Due Process rights of students are maintained, as applicable.Participates in a variety of meetings, which may include: staff and/or committee meetings, staff development sessions, and/or other related meetings.Performs related support functions, which may include: preparing correspondence and reports; responding to inquiries; and performing related duties.Stays current with research and practices in the field and content covered in the course of instruction.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.Training and Experience RequirementsMaster’s Degree in special education, or related field AND at least 18 graduate credits must be in the teacher educator's area of instruction OR have completed a dissertation or published peer-reviewed research in the teacher educator's area of instruction.At least five years of teaching experience in a special education classroom, or related field.Leadership experiences that include presentations at professional conferences and/or professional development workshops given in the community and/or district-level.Strong established practices in both ASD and EBD best practices and strategies.Licensure from the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) in either Autism Spectrum Disorders, or Emotional Behavior Disorders.Preferred QualificationsLicensure from the MN Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board (PELSB) in Autism Spectrum Disorders AND Emotional Behavior Disorders.Previous experience with syllabi development and previous course instruction in higher education.
