SUMMARY:
Develops curriculum and lesson plans for a variety of out-of-school time (OST) activities for preschool, elementary, and/or secondary classes as part of Hopkins Community Education Programming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Â
- Develops curriculum and lesson plans for Camp Royal swim camps
- Prepares and provides materials for classes. Â
- Teaches lesson plans for classes.
- Provides direction to the Camp Royal Assistants and Leaders.
- Available June 10 to August 12, Monday through Thursday, 9am to 4pm.Â
- Checks students in and out of classes and remains with students until all students are picked up.
- Completes attendance records, weekly schedules, accident reports, and all other reports as requested.
- Interacts with parents and community members in a professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful manner.
- Supervises children using positive discipline to maintain an informal, orderly, and safe environment.Â
- Follow district safety procedures and guidelines and ensure that safety precautions are taken in all activities.Â
- Keep the supervisor informed of any concerns and issues and report any damages immediately.
- Enforces all policies, rules and regulations established by Hopkins Community Education.Â
- Maintains proper care and use of equipment and facilities.Â
- Sets up and cleans up activity areas.
- Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.Â
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Â
Education and Experience:
- Swim Instructor training and certification
- Two (2) years of experience coordinating school programs.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Â

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
- Driver’s license.

Required Knowledge and Skills
Required Knowledge:
- District policies and procedures.
- Methods and techniques to assist students with swim and recreational programs.
- Safety rules and regulations.
- Local community resources, regional community services programs, and regional training programs.
- Computer applications related to the work.
- Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

- Maintaining composure and working effectively under classroom conditions.Â
- Exercising good judgment in all situations.
- Assisting in the development and evaluation of childcare curriculum.
- Operating a personal computer using standard and specialized software.
- Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

Hours and Compensation:
28 hours per week.Â
$21.05 or more, depending on qualifications.Â
