Description: 
The Building Supervisor provides supervision and security of buildings for district and community use during non-school hours. The incumbent acts as a liaison for the School District by providing information to the public on the programs occurring in the building, reporting unauthorized persons, assisting class instructors and group leaders with equipment and related materials, and supervising participants to assure a safe and orderly use of the building.

Job Summary:
 
1.         Meets, greets and provides information and directions to persons in buildings so that people arrive at the scheduled location.
2.         Maintains a positive rapport with students, staff, administration and the public to ensure good public relations and a pleasant educational environment.
3.         Responsible for knowing assigned locations of scheduled activities in the building during the work shift to ensure proper security and to provide directions to participants.
4.         Unlocks and locks assigned areas including halls, classrooms, gymnasiums and main doors in order to allow entrance to or to secure areas for use.
5.         Deliver class lists, handouts, evaluations and other necessary materials to class instructors or program supervisors. Post signs as needed to inform or direct building users. Return completed forms, class lists, and other reports so that proper records are maintained.
6.         Assist instructors and community group leaders in the preparation of the facility for scheduled activities and in returning areas to proper order. This may include obtaining and the preparation of needed equipment.
7.         Visually checks assigned areas for unauthorized persons and unusual circumstances.  Immediately reports suspicious circumstances or persons to the proper authority in order to maintain a safe environment.
8.         Reports any theft, vandalism or other damages to the proper authority so that damage to School District property is investigated.
9.         Completes written reports to communicate daily activities and as needed in order to report and track incidents, injuries or concerns per occurrence.
10.       Maintain current First Aid and CPR certification so that participants are supervised by certified staff..
11.       Maintain required School District training such as Bloodborne Pathogens and Right-to-Know so that participants are supervised by knowledgeable staff.
12.       Attend Community Education/Building Supervisor staff meetings and training opportunities to maintain and improve knowledge and skills for high quality service.
13.       Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

1.         High school degree, GED, or equivalent experience, with preference given to additional education beyond high school.
2.         Minimum age of twenty-one (21) years.
3.         Ability to supervise programs and classes, interpret and enforce district policies and procedures.
4.         Good interpersonal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with and get along with others.
5.         Ability to work a flexible, changing schedule of non-school hours. A variety of shifts are available which may include after school hours, evenings, weekends, holidays and non-school days.
6.         Willingness to accept and follow directions.
7.         Ability to work independently with minimum direct supervision.
8.         Basic knowledge of and interest in the proper use of audio visual, computer and sports equipment.
9.         First aid certification and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification desired.
10.       No experience necessary, but prior supervisory related or responsible positions helpful.

Schedule:

School-year
1.         After School, Evenings and weekends.
2.         Willing to work around other committments; scheduled hours based on employee availability.
3.         Prefer 10+ hours/week, but if applicant holds another position within the district,  hours will not exceed 40 hours/week total.

Summer
1.         Mostly daytime, some evenings and weekends.
2.         Willing to work around other committments; scheduled hours based on employee availability.
3.         Prefer minimum committment 10+ hours/week during summer.
