Three positions (one position at Highland Elementary School, one position Valley View, and one position for North Park School for Innovation) to start at the begining of the 2024-2025 school year.

Job details:

  • Hours/schedule: 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday
  • Calendar: 184 days per year
  • Rate of Pay: $22.88 per hour (24-25 rate)

General Definition of Work
Performs human support work assisting with building activities as directed, providing support to students and staff, and related work as apparent or assigned.  Work is performed under the close supervision of the Building Principal.
 
Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions
Engage with and encourage students, as a positive role model, to reach their academic potential and to develop appropriate social skills. 
 
Monitor student behavior in various school spaces including but not limited to: cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, grounds, and parking lots.
 
Escort students and visitors to designated location, as needed. 
 
Assist principal and assistant principal in enforcing school and district rules, regulations, and policies regarding student discipline. 
 
Screen visitors, check hall passes and supervise buses loading and unloading. 
 
Maintain good working relationship and professional demeanor with staff, students, parents, community members, etc. 
 
Provides building support as needed and assigned by building administration.
 
Attends work regularly and arrives on time.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions; dependability; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administration, families, staff, students, visitors, and the general public; effective communication skills.
 
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling and occasionally requires lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

Special Requirements
Spanish or Somali language skills preferred.
