Bookkeeper & Payroll Assistant
Status:          40 hours / week,  Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm, 260 days / year
Position:       District Bookkeeper/Payroll Assistant
Location:      District Office
Rate of Pay:  $22.12 – $24.16 per hour
Beginning:    05/28/2024 or As Agreed Upon
Deadline for Application:  05/02/2024 or Until Filled

JOB SUMMARY:
The Bookkeeper and Payroll Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

General Accounting

  • Maintaining district accounting systems and monitoring various revenues, expenditures and receivables
  • Wire transfers and banking-related transaction tracking
  • Prepare monthly journal entries
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of payroll liability accounts
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanation of account variances
  • Process weekly deposits, receipts and invoices
  • Other duties as assigned by the Controller and Director of Finance and Operations

Payroll

  • Payroll-related duties including back-up services to the payroll supervisor
  • COBRA initiation, tracking and monitoring
  • Remit data to agencies for payday, quarterly and calendar reporting
  • Reconcile payroll information per pay period and calendar/fiscal balancing
  • Prepare, balance and submit payroll invoices to accounts payable
  • Monitor deductions for annual limit (403b)
  • Reconcile payroll related general ledger accounts
  • Assists in processing semi-monthly payroll 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Specific training or job experience required before appointment:

  • Minimum of two-year accounting degree preferred
  • Prior accounting experience, school related preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Accurate attention to detail
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines
  • Ability to complete tasks while working closely with others
