Behavior Interventionist
Meadow Lake Elementary
Salary and benefits based on the Terms and Conditions of Employment for Program Assistants, Level 7
$26.07 to $33.54 per hour, plus benefits
188-day per year work calendar
Seven hours of paid time and 30 minutes of unpaid lunch time per day

PURPOSE
Team with building staff to implement behavior strategies and culturally relevant strategies to support students’ successful participation in the education setting.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support communication and build positive relationships between students and building staff
  • Collaborate with building administration and staff to implement effective positive behavioral management strategies as well as conflict mediation and de-escalation strategies.
  • Support student success in the classroom and in participation in academics.
  • Assist in facilitating groups with staff, students and families.
  • Liaison with resources in the community.
  • Demonstrate skills in working collaboratively with education- and community-based agencies in development and implementation of plans to address individual student’s needs.
  • Support and facilitate crisis management.
  • Work under the supervision of BCBA and Special Education Supervisors. 
  • Implement interventions, collect data, coach and mentor staff. 
  • Work at an assigned district wide site for approx 4-6 weeks with a 1:1 student.
  • This position will be working with students who have high intense behaviors. 
  • Other tasks as assigned.  

          
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in education, counseling, or social work.
  • Experience working with adolescents, including students with disabilities, in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to deliver positive behavior intervention and support
  • Knowledge of diversity issues and the African American community.
  • Effective communication and human relations skills
  • Knowledge and skills in group facilitation
  • Collaborative problem solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to attend work regularly and report to work in a timely manner.
