The Austin Public School District is seeking to hire a Full Time School Social Worker or School Counselor effective for the 2024-2025 school year.
Applications will be accepted, and highly qualified candidates will be interviewed now until the position is filled. Candidates must have or be able to obtain a proper License from the Minnesota Department of Education.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Special Services and Building Principal, the Licensed School Counselor provides individual and group guidance and counseling services to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of students.
Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job:

  • Working knowledge of the principals, practices and ASCA ethical standards for school counselors; relevant state and federal laws, rules and regulations; and applicable district policies
  • Current knowledge of the district curriculum, extracurricular offerings, community resources and support systems 
  • Ability to deal effectively and appropriately with students, parents, school staff and other providers regarding student concerns and problems.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to consult with school personnel in developing and implementing effective academic and behavioral interventions for students.
  • The skill and ability to communicate – both orally and in writing.

Annual Salary Range is according to education and experience (includes a competitive benefits package of paid time off, health insurance, life insurance, etc.) according to the AEA Working Agreement located within the Human Resource section of the Austin Public Schools website at www.austin.k12.mn.us.
