Description

The Fergus Falls Public Schools are seeking candidates for the position of a full-time assistant HR director. Salary will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary ranges $58,500-$69,000/year.
 
The Fergus Falls School District is located in the beautiful Lakes Country of west central Minnesota in Otter Tail County; and is currently comprised of an early childhood center, four elementary schools serving grades K-5, the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center serving grades 4-5, one secondary school that provides education to our middle school and high school students (grades 6-12), a K-12 online school, and an Area Learning Center. QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business administration, human resources or related field
  2. Previous work experience in the area of accounting, payroll and/or HR preferred
  3. Previous experience in a public school sector is highly desirable, but not required
  4. Highly functional knowledge of federal, state and local regulations and compliance requirements related to human resources
  5. Self-motivated and action oriented. Anticipates needs and proactively embraces opportunities to serve others
  6. Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities
  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  8. Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to pay close attention to details

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The tasks listed below are not intended to limit other tasks that might reasonably be assigned as necessary.

  1. Perform diverse office tasks with utmost confidentiality, including generating necessary reports and facilitating staff communications.
  2. Responsible for ensuring integrity and consistency of HR data, as well as having working knowledge of the district’s HR/payroll technology systems.
  3. Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data to facilitate decision-making processes.
  4. Ensure strict adherence to federal, state and local laws and regulations.
  5. Assist with all aspects of onboarding new staff, as directed. Manage new staff and substitute staff files as required by law.
  6. Manage active staff substitute list on Googledocs and Frontline Education System; corresponding to substitutes as needed.
  7. Report certified staff employment and assignment information to MN Dept of Education through the annual STAR (STaff Automated Reporting) system.
  8. Assist with completing the pay equity report and the EEO-5 report, as required by law.
  9. Assist with completing and distributing seniority records for all certified and support staff; along with maintaining tenure records for certified staff.
  10. Collaborate in the review and revision of school district policies.
  11. Safeguard the confidentiality of all staff information in accordance with data privacy laws
  12. Collaborate with the superintendent, finance director and HR director to compile information for negotiation purposes.
  13. Manages all aspects of workers’ compensation claims and maintain electronic files. Process/post OSHA 300a logs as required by law.
  14. Assist with recording certified staff transcripts for onboarding and facilitating lane changes.
  15. Process all FMLA and COBRA documents as requested and maintain comprehensive database and documents.
  16. Handle requests for W-2 forms and employment verifications efficiently.
