Summary/Primary Objective of Position:
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Benefits and the Coordinator of Payroll, assists with the delivery of accurate pay, benefits and time off for employees on a bi-weekly basis consistent with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, bargaining contracts and district policy, and performs related work as required within the job description.  

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Assists the Coordinator of Benefits with monthly insurance billing and reconciliation, new hires and terminations with insurance carriers, district COBRA mailings, 1095C processing, monthly VEBA deposits,  and new hire benefit orientation preparation. 
  2. Administers the District’s medical, dental and life insurance for retirees and those electing COBRA. 
  3. Serves as the District contact for flexible spending accounts, enters deductions for employees on the payroll system, and balances deposits and deductions bi-weekly. 
  4. Provides accurate and timely support for all negotiation processes that require payroll or benefits data. 
  5. Oversees time off in Skyward Employee Access in compliance with bargaining agreements, policies and contracts. 
  6. Assists the Coordinator of Payroll with daily operations of the district’s payroll system, including preparing and correcting worksheets, entering payroll hours, running reports,creating and reconciling sub tracking reports, and responding to employment verification requests. 
  7. Performs daily workers compensation duties including reporting injuries online, communicating with workers comp carrier and employees, completing OSHA reports, and completing the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illness Report. 

Qualifications:

  1. Associate Degree with major coursework in Accounting, Human Resources or a closely related field. Four-year degree preferred.  
  2. Evidence of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  3. Evidence of previous payroll and benefit experience with automated, complex payroll systems. 
  4. Evidence of Flex spending and benefit administration 
  5. School district accounting experience, experience with Skyward preferred. 
  6. Evidence of excellent data entry, 10-key, and keyboarding skills (50 wpm) 
  7. Evidence of strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel). 
  8. Evidence of excellent human relations, and mathematical skills. 
  9. Evidence of ability to read, analyze, and interpret bargaining unit contracts. 
  10. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from district employees and retirees. 
  11. Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. 

Assignment Details:
The Assistant Coordinator is a full-time, year-round, exempt  position.  This position will be placed on an individual letter of assignment and is not within a collective bargaining unit.  Starting salary is $65,000 depending on experience and our benefits are regionally competitive.
