ASSISTANT SITE SUPERVISOR
 
Location: Westonka Community Education Early Learning Center (ages 3 – 5)
 
Date Available: June 3, 2024
 
Supervisors: Program Support Specialist, Child Care Coordinator, & Director of Community Education
 
Hours:

  • 8.0 hours per day
  • 260 days per year

Wage:

  • $17.00 – $29.93 / hour based on experience and education
  • Benefits include: health & dental insurance, paid sick/ vacation/ holidays

 Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 18 years of age with a High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 2 years of experience in a child care or similar setting is required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work with and lead a diverse group of people
  • Experience and demonstrated success working with children and families
  • Current CPR & First Aid certification (or ability to obtain if hired – training provided)

Preferred Qualifications:  Associates or Bachelors degree  in Child Development or Education

Child management responsibilities include the following:

  • Ability to keep a group of children safe in a variety of program spaces
  • Collaborate with the Site Supervisor to provide safe, nurturing and developmentally appropriate learning experiences for three to five year old children through group and individual learning activities for the Preschool Adventure Club program.
  • Provide direct supervisor to the children enrolled in the program and supervise and lead the other staff in the classroom.
  • Work with parents/guardians and district staff  to plan for and provide reasonable accommodations to ensure student success is met in cooperation with program policies
  • Maintenance of attendance and counts for a group of children
  • Active engagement with children in all activities during program hours
  • A patient, warm, understanding and receptive attitude towards all children
  • Ability to address and resolve student discipline issues and relay information to the Site Supervisor when follow up is necessary.
  • Ability to initiate, mentor and lead a group of children in a project, gym game, through challenging social situations, etc.
  • Encouraging conversation and problem-solving among children by using effective communication, redirection, reflection and role modeling
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Program Support Specialist, Child Care Coordinator, or Director of Community Education

  Communication responsibilities include the following:

  • Greeting children and families in a positive and friendly manner
  • Communicating positive feedback to parents and staff on a regular basis
  • Direct staff in the Preschool Adventure Club program, this involved assigning staff to daily tasks, mentoring and supervising. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Program Support Specialist, Child Care Coordinator, or Director of Community Education.
  • Informing the Site Supervisor, Program Support Specialist, or Child Care Coordinator of incidents or accidents and if any follow up is needed
  • Provide customer service and establish relationships with parents/guardians and children in the program
  • Ability to write and verbally communicate behavior and accident reports in accordance with program guidelines
  • Attendance at regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Strong ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality of information regarding children, families & staff
  • Positively and successfully work as a member of the team
  • Effectively communicate with parents, school staff, youth enrichment staff and program staff.Communicating regularly with program staff, ability to regularly check email for important schedule or training information, and checking the staff board daily
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor, Program Support Specialist, Child Care Coordinator, or Director of Community Education

 Site management responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead and mentor staff is setting up and putting away games, equipment, and supplies as indicated on the weekly program schedule
  • Implementation of program policies and procedures
  • Maintaining records as directed by the Site Supervisor Program Support Specialist, Child Care Coordinator, or Director of Community Education
  • Keeping program and storage areas clean and orderly
  • Weekly sanitizing of toys and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Assistant Site Supervisor
