Description: 

  • Teach Online Adult Academics to learners who have GED or college prep goals;
  • Align instruction to MN ABE Content Standards (CCRS, ACES/TIF, NorthStar Digital Literacy);
  • Maintain an active Canvas page central to the online Adult Academics class;
  • Analyze student needs and assess progress with TABE assessments;
  • Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles;
  • Coordinate volunteer-student assignments by determining selection of materials, supervising student’s progress, and assessing needs and performance;
  • Responsible for record keeping for class and for accurately recording attendance, student progress, etc;.
  • Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development;
  • Manage classroom and learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students;
  • Maintain levels of training criteria established by State Department of Education;

 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching adult ABE, GED, HiSET, and college preparation courses
  • Strong digital literacy and computer skills. Ability to teach in an on-line platform such as Google Meet.
  • Experience teaching with an LMS (eg: Canvas);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to supervise and work well with others
  • Ability to assume initiative in problem solving
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent record keeping skills
  • Ability to manage time and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated history of racial equity work and focus on increasing racial awareness
  • Bachelor Degree in Education and current Minnesota Teaching License (a district-sponsored Tier 1 License may be obtainable) 
  • Masters in TESOL preferred

 
Teaching Positions:
 

  • The Adult Academics Instructor is a morning and evening position.
  • Morning class is Monday – Thursday, 9:15-12:15
  • Evening class is Tuesday – Thursday, 6-8 PM

Compensation and Schedule:

  • September 9th – June 6th, 2025
  • 4.5-7.5 hours/day, 27 hours/week, 136 days/year
