DIS ADSIS Behavior Skills Teacher
 
The successful candidate for the ADSIS Skills Teacher will work closely with school staff and administration to diagnose and support individualized students’ needs.  This position is an integral member of the Student Success Team (SST), serving as SST Lead.  The role of the SST is to collaborate with staff members to identify concerns within students and determine appropriate interventions to support their success. The candidate will further offer support to individual and small groups of students in the areas of executive functioning skills, behavior, math, and/or reading.

Location: Delano Intermediate School
Hours: 7.5 hours/day (7:30 to 3:00) Monday – Friday; 173 days/school year
Anticipated Start Date:  August 2024

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Any MN Teaching License appropriate for the grade levels 4-6 is sufficient, or the ability to obtain a license prior to the starting date of the position

Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

  • Experience in data driven decision making
  • Experience in delivering and progress monitoring interventions
  • Understanding of, and experience with, MTSS/RTI
  • Behavior Interventions
  • Reading licensure
  • SPED licensure


ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Participate in all professional development activities, workshops, and student contact days according to the teacher’s contract.
  • Abide by all provisions of the contract held between the District and Delano Teacher’s Association.
  • Demonstrate effective time management.
  • Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families.
  • Understand the development of intermediate school students and apply best practices with intervention services and progress monitoring.
  • Respond in all situations with a professional and appropriate demeanor.
  • Collaborate with staff, students, and families to determine and implement appropriate interventions.
  • Demonstrate a consistent knowledge and reinforcement of school Policies and expectations.
  • Be flexible in their utilization of time and resources.
  • Monitor ADSIS student behavior in the lunchroom.
  • Check in/out daily with students regarding behavioral/academic interventions.
  • Respond promptly to urgent situations as needed.
  • Independently develop and implement behavioral interventions in response to acute and chronic discipline referrals.
  • Independently schedule student services and proactively offer support when time is available.  Independently monitor the fidelity of intervention programming.
  • Facilitate restorative justice programs and conflict resolution, in concert with building administration, for Tier 1 behavioral incidences.
  • Provide updates to staff and the SST regarding progress of students towards intervention goals.
  • Maintain accurate records for student visitations, intervention plans, progress monitoring and dates of service for the purpose of providing effective student support and maintenance of grant.
  • Provide recommendations and instructional coaching for general educators providing interventions regarding curriculum selection, progress monitoring, and reporting.
  • Serve as the internal coach for Math Corps program at DIS, following all guidelines, requirements, and responsibilities of the Math Corps program.
