JOB DESCRIPTION
 
 
TITLE:                      Academic Advisor/Credit Recovery Teacher
 
SUPERVISOR:         Principal in cooperation with the Indian Education Director
 
ASSIGNMENT:       As determined by the Teachers Master Agreement
 
JOB SUMMARY:    
Provides support and assistant to students to help them plan for their future.  Will teach Credit Recovery (CR) classes and will work with the ALC to best ensure that all dual-enrolled students are supported and on track for graduation.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.         Assist target students in completing career inventories.
2.         Assist target students in developing an education plan relative to career interest through their senior year.
3.         Will teach Credit Recovery classes on the High School Master schedule.
4.         Provide tutorial assistance and support services as needed.
5.         Encourage parent involvement and support through home visits.
6.         Organize tours to businesses and service/government organizations for target students relative to career interest.
7.         Provide target students with the opportunity to visit with role models working in the field of their vocational interest.
8.         Maintain appropriate records and complete reports as required.
9.         Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
SUPERVISION OF OTHER EMPLOYEES:
1.         This position does not include supervision of other district employees.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
1.         Requires a Minnesota teaching license
2.         Prior experience with an educational system or working with children preferred
3.         Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
4.         Must complete the necessary application process and pass a criminal background check and drug screening results.
5.         Knowledge of American Indian culture and communities.
