Write and follow a professional development plan
Work-Based Learning Program Coordination

Develop and plan work-based learning (WBL) curriculum
-
Supervise and support the teaching of the WBL curriculum

Work with students in the WBL program to set workplace goals
-
Conduct initial job site visit to observe and evaluate program appropriateness
-
Maintain paperwork for the WBL program
-
Content Responsibilities

Plan and implement learning program as determined by the IEP
-
Work with transition areas of IEP’s to help seniors develop a post-secondary plan
-
Create and monitor content modifications, working with regular education teachers and seminar instructors
-
Order and maintain teaching materials
-
Attend workshops to stay abreast of changes in relevant special education service
Responsibility with Students Regarding Work Based Learning

Provide direct and indirect work-based learning services to students as outlined in their annual IEP and/or contingent learning plan
-
Meet with students frequently both in and out of classes to assess progress & facilitate daily reciprocal communication with students.

Aid students in creating academic and non-academic short and long-term goals
-
Work with students to develop project and time management skills necessary to be successful at Avalon
-
Work with students to develop self-control and self-advocacy
-
Maintain the school as a respectful learning community and an environment that cultivates learning

Advise students about classes, projects, and school/state requirements
-
Encourage appropriate behavior, communication and conflict resolution
-
Meet due process deadlines for each student’s annual IEP
-
Coordinate with Job Corps, Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), and comparable transitional programs, and serve as pre-ETS
-
Individual Training Agreements between the school, students, parents/guardians and employers that clearly explains the responsibilities of each involved party
-
Individual Training Plans that outline the specific learning to occur for each student

Verification of school district’s liability insurance and the employer’s liability insurance and Worker’s Compensation coverage
-
Adequate supervision from both school and worksite personnel to ensure adherence to Child Labor Laws
-
Documentation of safety instruction both general and specific to the job attached to the Training Plan
-
Maintains documentation and coordinates with IEP Case Managers to assure credits earned, awarded and aligned.
