Position Summary:
This position is responsible for supervising and monitoring food preparation work from a district perspective. Responsibilities may include coordinating and monitoring the services at school sites; ensuring the maintenance of standards and policies in food handling and serving; and performing related duties as required. Specific to this position is the creation of menu development,nutrition analysis, and managing student special diets.
Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the administration team on all components of coordinating and supervising the food service operations through menu creation, targeted ingredient planning, coordinating and supervising food operations and providing feedback to staff.
- Responsible for the nutrition analysis and development of all menu offerings, including development of menus for students having dietary restrictions, food production, and use of nutrient analysis software.
- Responsible for increasing student participation through social media, student product sampling, new product research, and promotion of special events throughout the school year.
- Engages and facilitates the development of training materials and hands-on training opportunities for staff.
- Work with local farmers and Farm to School initiatives to improve food quality and community partnerships.
- Responsible for the catering program and other auxiliary programs. This may require some nights and weekends.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Food/Nutrition/Dietetics, Institutional Management, Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Nutrition Education or related field.
- Registered Dietitian status preferred.
- Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager’s License or willing to obtain within first six months.
