Position Summary

Serve as building lead in the implementation of whole school Restorative Practices in either a pilot site or Early Innovation Research federal grant funded implementation site in relationship to the Office of School Support and their Restorative Practices Program.

Reporting

This position reports to the building administrator and take directions and training by the Office of School Support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of professional level educational administrative support, training, project coordination or related work experience. (Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Foundational and Advanced Trainings in Circle, Restorative Practice Whole School Implementation Science, Restorative Chats and Language/Affective Language, and Repairing Harm/Re-entry circles.
  • Completion of Beyond Diversity or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and collaboratively with students, parents, school staff and administration.
  •  Experience with facilitating training
  • Completion of trauma-informed coursework
  • Enrollment and completion Delivering Effective Professional Development for Adult

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  •  Knowledge of Beyond Courage and/or engagement/leadership on building racial equity team
  • Knowledge of barriers to learning.
  • Knowledge of district and community resources available to assist students and their families with resolving academic achievement and/or behavioral problems.
  • Knowledge of conflict resolution theories and methods.
  • Knowledge of behavior management theories.
  • Experience implementing/leading PBIS and whole building professional development
  • Experience coaching educators via Cognitive Coaching or similar model, through a racial equity lens
  • Experience working with students K-12 with specialized support potentially inclusive of ELL, SPED and racially diverse settings.
  • Ability to interact effectively with persons from various cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement and document projects. 3 PROJECT COORDINATOR/ RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
  • Excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:

1) Lead and coordinate the activities of Restorative Practices to improve student achievement and school climate in one RP implementation school in alignment with SPPS/SPFE leadership of RP district-wide

2) Create a Restorative Practices Team that includes school administrators, teachers, counselors, behavior specialists, and other staff as appropriate, for the school site; facilitate team meetings; lead discussions on how to incorporate a three-year, school-wide approach to restorative practices implementation with other school practices.

3) Attend training, train, accompany/model, coach and support educators to develop a restorative mindset and facilitate restorative circles and other practices in accordance with the school-wide implementation plan.

4) Model restorative impulse and repair of harm with students in alignment with the school¿s implementation plan to develop and build capacity around a school-specific repair of harm strategy

5) Be a connector and facilitator of aligning building and district level efforts through :

  • Attending relevant professional development in restorative practices in advanced circle processes: Family Group Conferencing, repairing harm circles, welcome back and re-entry circles
  • Facilitating SPPS Professional Development trainings in Restorative Practices 2 PROJECT COORDINATOR/ RESTORATIVE PRACTICES
  • Attending SPPS Restorative Practice district meetings
  • Participating in meetings and supervision of the Office of School Support, including RP facilitators community of practice circles and PD
  • Participating in evaluation activities as developed by the RP leadership team and external evaluator 6) Other responsibilities may include the development or delegation of:
  • Communications activities such as:
    • Coordinate and produce school restorative practice professional development updates, newsletters, website updates and other communications
  • Support family engagement programming to support restorative practice whole community learning
    • In partnership with other support staff, conduct home visits as needed to support students and families
    • Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed
    • May participate in school meetings including staff meetings, Student Assessment Team (SAT), and SCIT team.
    • Student leadership and voice in RP for the school
    • Network with restorative practice practitioners and community leaders to explore opportunities for partnership with school and/or to share the story of your school¿s RP journey for learning with others Perform other assignments as assigned

Pay, Benefits and Work Schedule

This is a 10 month position working 40 hours per week.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the SCSP negotiated labor agreement. The labor agreement and salary schedule can be found at Labor Agreements – Saint Paul Public Schools (spps.org).
