The Shakopee Public School District is looking for a TOSA – Literacy Coordinator (1.0 FTE) to join the team.
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Learning, Teaching and Equity (LTE), the Literacy Coordinator provides programming coordination, direct literacy coaching and professional development support for teachers and other specialists resulting in the continual growth and improvement in literary practices across the district. This position requires specific training around the Shakopee Comprehensive Literacy Framework throughout the school year, including during the summer
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Literacy Coordinator:
- Coordinate Title One compliance in collaboration with LTE staff
- Serve as the Dyslexia Specialist in the District
- Collaborate with LTE and building staff to support the implementation, analysis and training of district assessments related to literacy
- Co-facilitate the ELA Curriculum review and implementation process
- Coordinate curriculum resources related to literacy programming
- Co-facilitate the Shakopee University Literacy cohort
- Support the training and coordination of the Literacy Coaches
- Facilitate regular meetings with district instructional coaches to align work and practices across buildings
Professional Development:
- Create and provide professional development for the Shakopee Elementary Literacy Framework
- Plan and provide training in the areas of literacy at the building and district level
- Plan and provide training in administration of district adopted assessments (ex. FastBridge, DRA)
- Collaborate and provide training and support for MTSS work, ensuring quality literacy interventions in Tier 1 instruction
Instructional Coach:
- Coach for implementation of Shakopee’s Comprehensive Literacy Framework
- Teach literacy lessons for teachers to observe, discuss and reflect on
- Observe lessons and coach teachers through questioning and reflection
- Co-plan and teach with Shakopee University Participants
- Coach and plan with grade level teams to use assessment results to modify instruction and design needs-based interventions
- Coach with grade level teams or individual teachers on modifications, accommodations, or enrichment to support the literacy needs of unique learners
- Attend training and workshops throughout the year, including summer and mentor coaching cycles
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Elementary Education
- K-12 Reading license preferred
Experience:
- Experience with Title I, ADSIS or other programs with compliance requirements
- Ability to build successful relationships with staff
- Experience facilitating adult learners
Working Conditions:
