We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Health Office Coordinator to join our team and provide high-quality healthcare services to students within the school setting. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, knowledgeable, and committed to promoting the health and well-being of students while adhering to state regulations and professional standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct care to students with acute or chronic health conditions, injuries, or illnesses during school hours.
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, and immunization reviews to promote student wellness and compliance with state health regulations.
  • Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans for students with specialized health needs, in collaboration with parents, healthcare providers, and school staff.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers and maintain accurate medication records in accordance with school policies and state laws.
  • Monitor and manage communicable diseases within the school community, including outbreak prevention and response protocols.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide initial first aid and urgent care as needed until emergency medical services arrive.
  • Educate students, families, and staff on health-related topics, preventive care, and safe practices to promote a healthy school environment.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and counselors to support students' mental health and social-emotional well-being.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students, ensuring compliance with privacy laws and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of school health policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students' health and safety needs within the school community and beyond.

Professional Accountabilities:

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional activities.
  • Participates in various school events, staff meetings and extracurricular activities.
  • Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
  • Serve as a role model for promoting effective instruction and professionalism

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience working in a school setting, healthcare facility, or similar environment is preferred. Experience with managing health records, coordinating health services, and implementing health programs is valuable.
  • Knowledge of Health Regulations: Understanding of state and federal health regulations pertaining to schools, including immunization requirements, medication administration guidelines, and student health data privacy laws.
  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing, public health, healthcare administration, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in a school or pediatric setting strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of state laws and regulations pertaining to school health services, including medication administration, immunizations, and health record maintenance.
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in basic medical procedures, CPR/First Aid certifications, and familiarity with managing common childhood illnesses and injuries.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in school nursing and public health.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and act with integrity in all aspects of job performance.

Working Environment:

  • Duties are normally performed in a school/classroom environment; school building is a multi-level building that has an elevator and is accessible
  • Position requires extensive interaction with children of all ages
  • Duties may occasionally be performed on field trips away from school
  • Duties may occasionally be performed in outdoor environments, such as athletic fields or playgrounds
  • Duties may occasionally be performed in varying weather conditions, such as hot or cold weather.
  • Possible exposure to loud and noisy locations (e.g. loud classrooms or cafeterias; children speaking or laughing loudly).
