Belle Plaine Schools is accepting applications for a Technology & Business Education Teacher.

The Technology & Business Education Teacher position reports to the high school principal and is responsible for the proper interpretation and performance of the duties and responsibilities of the position. The position teaches a variety of courses focusing on different technology experiences including coding, photography, security, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Support student participation in Career and Technical Education and other CTE student organizations.
  • Implement rigorous inquiry-based learning tasks with real-world application.
  • Candidate should have an understanding or some experience in the following:
    • Coding (Swift, Python, HTML)
    • Computer Applications
    • Video Editing
    • Web Design
    • Digital Animation

Qualification Requirements:

  • Demonstrate computer skills for the software in use. Demonstrate positive and effective working relationships with students, staff, other administrators, parents and the community.

Educational and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a secondary teaching license. K-6 and K-8 Elementary Education licenses accepted.

  • Language Requirements
    • Communicate clearly and concisely in a business-like manner. Understand different levels of communication with students, staff, administrators, parents and the community.
  • Mathematical Skills
    • Demonstrate ability to apply appropriate math skills in performing daily routines.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Know, interpret, and follow school policy. Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Diffuse difficult situations.
  • Other Skills and Abilities
    • Demonstrate ability to operate a computer and necessary software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents and the community.
    • Maintain professional composure when dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. Serve as a public relations contact person. Show initiative and function as a self-starter.

Physical Demands:

  • Perform multiple tasks. Lift at least 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

  • Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents and the community with multiple requests and concerns. Support and communicate with other administrators and staff. Respond in emergency situations.
