Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department is accepting online applications for the position of Technology-Media Assistant (10-Month), assigned to Lincoln Center Elementary School.  This position works 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday during the school year, and reports to the Technology DIrector.   Annual salary is $38,775; Independent-Technology group.

Job Summary
This position operates at the intersection of school technology and traditional media. This position is responsible for providing basic operational and instructional technology support to staff and students and overseeing the daily operations of the Media Center in coordination with the District Media Specialist.   
 
Job Functions

  • Respond to walk-in requests from students and staff for assistance with software, audio-visual and computer issues by providing basic support and escalating issues to the User Support Specialists when needed.
  • Respond to phone and email support requests from school and district staff, students and parents.
  • Document services provided to staff, student and parent customers in the district help desk application. 
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in conjunction with other department staff.
  • Assist with ongoing technology training for staff and students.
  • Assist with the distribution, collection and management of student devices.
  • Assist substitutes and new staff with their initial technology needs.
  • Maintain student devices in labs, carts and classrooms.
  • Manage school computer lab calendars.
  • Manage school technology equipment, inventory, storage and maintenance.
  • Provide support to School Assessment Coordinators for online testing, which may include:
    • Scheduling and preparing computer labs and computer carts for testing sessions.
    • Assisting as needed with test sessions in progress.
    • Providing other logistical support to the School Assessment Coordinator as needed.
  • Provide assistance to events requiring audio-visual and other technology support.
  • Assist staff in the supervision, instruction, and assessment of students as it relates to media and technology services.
  • Train teachers and students in the processes of media circulation, check-out, and check-in.
  • Assist with check in and out of all materials (instructional and learning technology).
  • Assist district Media Specialist in the management of budget, and acquisition of supplies and resource materials.
  • Assist staff and students with general reference questions, including assisting with Internet and other educational technology issues.
  • Manage and maintain Catalog, Circulation, Patron, and Report systems for media and technology resources.
  • Prepare overdue notices, and collect overdue or lost materials fines.
  • Assist in maintaining media spaces and computer labs as vibrant and effective learning areas.
  • Maintain a positive, professional and safe educational and work environment at all times.
  • Participate in “all hands on deck” school and district projects or events.
  • Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with all students, staff, families and community members.
  • Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
  • Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This is a tier 1 tech support position as well as a media center assistant position.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience supporting computer and audio-visual users.
  • Experience using productivity applications such as Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
  • Working knowledge of computer, laptop and mobile device and computer operating systems such as Windows, iOS and Chrome.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff, students and parents, as well as with people outside the organization. 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to build team capacity.
  • Strong reasoning and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to organize time, plan and complete projects and tasks.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex instructions.

 
Desired:

  • Experience working in a PK-12 school environment.
  • Familiarity with Windows, Chrome, and Android devices and operating systems.
  • Prior experience supporting computers, laptops, and mobile devices and users in a network environment.
  • Associate’s Degree preferred.

 
Physical Requirements
Regularly required to move about the building providing technology assistance to staff; ability to crawl, stoop, reach, etc., in order to troubleshoot technology problems; must have the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds unassisted.
