Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIT)
Â
Minimum qualifications include:Â
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- MN teaching license in appropriate field, OR a valid MN teaching license in another field and willing to obtain an Out of Field Permission.*
- If not currently licensed, must be willing and eligible to apply for and receive a Tier 1 or 2.*

Preferred qualifications include:Â
- Develop and implement strategies: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and the student’s educational team to create and implement strategies to help the student be successful in the school environment
- Provide instruction:Â Provide individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically or behaviorally
- Assist with de-escalation:Â Help de-escalate student behaviors and reintegrate students back into the classroom
- Knowledge of and ability to implement de-escalation techniques
- Knowledge of and the ability to implement behavior management techniquesÂ
- Strong organizational skillsÂ
- Support school-wide efforts:Â Support school-wide efforts to develop and implement a social emotional curriculum
- Engage parents:Â Engage parents in the student behavior intervention plan process and provide them with skills and techniques to support their child
- Conduct conflict resolution:Â Conduct conflict resolution and peer mediation sessions
- Comply with safety policies:Â Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures
- Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needsÂ
- Maintains and provides data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progress
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and familiesÂ
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
