FRONT DESK RECEPTIONIST – Substitute

General Definition of Work

Performs administrative support work answering phones, greeting visitors, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Building Principal.

Possible Work Shifts would include Monday – Friday, from 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. 
Rate- $17.00/hour

Qualification Requirements

Essential Functions

  • Perform routine clerical work involving tasks such as distributing messages, copying, faxing and filing.
  • Manage and record student attendance.  Print and distribute necessary attendance reports.
  • Monitor and manage building supplies.  
  • Print and file all necessary documents.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for office equipment (e.g. copy machine).
  • Respond to information requests from staff, parents, visitors, etc.
  • Greet guests and answer phone; provide information or direct to appropriate staff.
  • Greet and assist substitute teachers.  Assist with coordinating classroom coverage when substitutes are not available.
  • Receive and distribute incoming mail.
  • Provide supervision in halls, cafeterias, playgrounds, and bus areas (elementary) as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service to students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public.
  • Maintain building security by following all security procedures for admitting visitors.  
  • Perform  other duties as assigned.

  Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associates/Technical degree preferred.

Rate of Pay: $17.00 per hour  

Physical Requirements

This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting and speaking or hearing, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel and occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
