Bloomington Public Schools is accepting applications for daily, on-call Substitute Paraprofessionals for the 24-25 school year!
A paraprofessional substitute, often called a “para sub,” assists teachers and supports students in a school setting. Their duties may include helping with classroom management, providing one-on-one or small group instruction, supporting students with special needs, and aiding in daily classroom activities. They might also assist with supervising students during breaks, and help ensure that the classroom environment is conducive to learning. Their goal is to support both teachers and students to maintain a productive and positive learning experience. ECFE or Early Childhood Family Education Paras work with children and parents before they are in traditional schooling.
ECFE Model:
- A licensed early childhood teacher and paraprofessional are in each classroom.
- Each classroom is designed to provide learning toys and materials
- Teacher will provide learning activities and experiences that support the Minnesota state standards for children ages birth to 5-years-old.
- Each class has time for parent education and a time for parent/child learning activities.

Pay Rate:
$23.40 per hour
Responsibilities:
- Hours and duties vary depending on the position
- Most positions are working with students with special needs including assisting them with assigned tasks and daily living activities in either a classroom or one to one basis
- Other assignments may include supervising students sent to the quiet room, lunchroom or recess supervision or classroom assistant
- High School Diploma is required
