Student Intern with Nutrition Services Program
Zachary Lane Elementary
$15.47 per hour, casual rate
Part-time hours

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in preparation and service of quality food to customers in a timely and customer focused manner.
  • Prepares or serves food according to a planned menu following required serving sizes.
  • Daily record keeping including production records and temperature logs completed on Google docs.
  • Assists with the daily setup and cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.
  • Serves and/or cashiers during meal services.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

 
DUTIES AND SKILLS

  • Operational knowledge of commercial food service equipment used in preparing quantity foods.
  • Understands complexity of daily recordkeeping.
  • Knowledge of food preparation and/or serving requirements.
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety requirements.
  • Knowledge of computerized point of sale.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community
  • Ability to perform job and communicate in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 40 pounds, including milk crates, frozen foods and canned foods.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma/GED or enrollment in an academic program leading to a high school diploma.
  • Food safety course and/or school nutrition basics course completion desirable.
  • Preferred MN Food Service Manager Certification or ServSafe certification.
  • Ability to attend work on a daily basis.
