Summary

The Student Information Specialist supports the entering of student data during the enrollment process, from initial student online inquiry to graduation or withdrawal from the school. The Student Information Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely student data through the MN Automated Reporting Student System (MARSS).

Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Monitor new student applications and process new student enrollments

  • Provide support to students and parents with enrollment application and parent portal

  • Contact new students over the summer months to answer questions and provide information about BlueSky expectations and requirements

  • Maintain current student enrollment and contact information in the student information system

  • Review and approve Application for Educational Benefits forms

  • Request records and transcripts from students’ previous schools of attendance

  • Respond to record and transcript requests from other middle schools and high schools

  • Ensure immunization histories are on file with the Minnesota Department of Health and make yearly immunization submissions.

  • Perform MARSS submissions and correct data errors as needed

  • Assist with the coordination of graduation ceremonies, student conferences, staff meetings and other staff and student events as needed

  • Act as a backup answering main office telephone calls

  • Complete required state and federal student information reports including Civil Rights Data Collection

  • Other duties as assigned

    WORK ENVIRONMENT
    The position is based in the Bloomington office with the potential to work from home based on job requirements and office scheduling. The job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.     EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
    This position allows for flexibility, however the employee must be available during the “core” work hours of 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
     

    REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with some college or technical school course work.

  • Minimum of one year data entry experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

    PREFERRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree

  • One year experience with a student information database, preferably PowerSchool

  • Experience with MARSS reporting system
