SUMMARY:
Provides a complete array of services to students with identified communication problems, including students whose primary disability is “speech-language impairment” and students with other primary disabilities who have needs in the area of communication.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.
- Performs pre-referral consultations to general and special education teachers.
- Oversees case management for students with speech-language impairments.
- Performs due process compliance, third-party billing, program data collection, and funding reports.
- Works to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in students.
- Completes evaluations that consist of comprehensive initial and reevaluations for all types of communication disabilities.
- Oversees standard-referred IEPs and IIIPs (intervention that supports literacy and other standards).
- Performs direct intervention services to students in the least restrictive environment (include classroom-based service).
- Performs indirect intervention and consultative services to teams, teachers and parents.
- Performs other site-based and special education duties, including support of district literacy goals.
- Promotes and supports the overall mission of the District by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.Â

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, or a closely related field.
Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
- Driver’s license.
- Minnesota teaching license in Speech-Language Pathology.

Work is performed in a school environment, using standard office equipment and stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and computer screens; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Â

Travel required to locations throughout the District.
