Job Title: Special Education Homebound Teacher / Secondary Special Education Saints Online teacher
Salary: $48,166 – $89,645 per Teachers Work Agreement, will negotiate based on qualifications/years of experience.
Reports to: Special Education Program Supervisor
District Wide Primary Purpose/ Homebound: Provide special students who are confined to the home with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Accommodate or modify instructional material when needed per a student’s IEP. Prepare provided lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work with a student in a home as assigned.
District Wide Primary Purpose/ Special Education Saints Online Teacher: Provide special education students who have elected to access school via Saints Online with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Accommodate or modify instructional material when needed per a student’s IEP via the Edmentum platform.
Education/Certification: Current special education teaching license or eligible for an Out of Field Placement or Tier 1 license
Experience: At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of special needs of students Individual Education Plan (IEP) goal setting process and implementation General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Major Responsibilities and Duties:Â
Instructional StrategiesÂ
- Collaborate with students, parents, and other members of the team Â
- Implement an instructional program for assigned students and show written evidence of sessions and preparation as required
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan for instructional activitiesÂ
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and capabilities of each student assigned
- Assess the achievement of the student on a regular basis through formal and informal testing and provide progress reports as required
- Be a positive role model for students; support the mission of the school district
- Facilitate IEP meetings and remain compliant with Due Process paperwork. Â
CommunicationÂ
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers as appropriate
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly
