Minimum Qualifications Required: 
     Education:       Bachelor's degree or higher
     Experience:     3 or more years classroom experience preferred 
     Certification:   Valid local state teaching certificate in assigned content area 
     Background:   Clear FBI background check  
     Language:       Strong verbal and writing skills in English

 

Job Duties 

Program Coordination 

  • Advise parents and provide information regarding special education and related service provisions.  

  • Collaborate with Title 1 Teachers and MLL Teachers to ensure special services cohesion and fidelity.  

  • Serve as a consultant to teachers in matters of classroom management, teaching methods, and general school procedures.  

  • Attend IEP meetings as needed.  

  • Monitor the implementation of all IEP services.  

  • Monitor contract personnel as needed for the provision of psychological services, speech therapy services, occupational therapy, physical therapy and related services.  

  • Coordinate student testing and ensure necessary accommodations are implemented.  

  • Ensure faculty and staff are well versed in all requirements to implement student IEP and 504 Plans.  

  • Support teachers in the intervention process by being a resource to provide research-based academic and social intervention information.  

  • In conjunction with the school leaders, support student behavior plans, ensure consistent follow-through, collaborate to problem solve student transitions, behavioral concerns and social anxieties, and coordinate classroom meetings.  

  • Coordinate speech, occupational and physical therapy schedules and information sharing.  

  • Support school-wide vision and hearing screenings with licensed public health nurses.  

Classroom Instruction 

  • Instructs students in English language development 

  • Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of MLLs across content areas. 

  • Creates a classroom environment that cultivates learning, engages the interests of the students, and allows them to perform at their very best.  

  • Utilizes academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments aligned to Athlos’ 3 foundational pillars of a Prepared Mind, Healthy Body, and Performance Character.  

  • Plans, prepares, and delivers instruction that engages students and ensures student growth and achievement in accordance with grade level standards.  

  • Uses data to inform instructional decisions including summative and interim assessments and daily formative assessments.  

  • Differentiates instruction based on individual needs, learning style, and abilities.  

  • Familiar with and teaches in alignment with The State Instructional Standards for the assigned Grade and or Subject
