Position Title: Special Education Teacher

FLSA Status: Exempt

FTE: 1.0

Posting Description:

• Understand and meet Due Process requirements for assigned students

• Ability to plan and implement specially designed instruction to meet the unique needs of students requiring special education services in a cross-categorical classroom. 

• Ability to collaborate with paraeducators and effectively direct the work delegated to them.  

• Ability to communicate and collaborate with general education teachers and parents to ensure the needs of students are being met.

• Experience with evaluation and eligibility determination for special education services.

• Collect and monitor data to determine student progress and adjust instruction as needed.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

• Create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

• Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in education.

• Ability to positively engage in a collaborative, student-centered team approach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Education and Experience Requirements:

• Degree: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Education or relevant instructional subject area. 
• License: 
  • Licensed teachers in the State of MN with special education teaching licensure.
• Experience: 
  • Prior successful experenice student teaching or teaching in an urban,multicultural education setting. 
  • Experience working with students with identified needs. 
  • Strong understanding of special education law and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills. 
  • Dedication to providing a high-quality education for all students. 

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary:
  • Range: $42,250 – $96,749 
  • Salary placement is based on experience and education level, as per district guidelines.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, TRA pension & 403b plan.
