Description
Le Sueur-Henderson Middle School is currently seeking a Special Education teacher with the ability, skills, and training necessary to work with a broad array of students with disabilities.

Qualifications:

Special Education Licensure required for working with students in Federal Setting 1-3.
-
EBD, ABS, or DCD Licenses preferred.

Multiple licensure preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student's IEP.

Ability to design and implement specially designed instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students requiring special education services.

Experience and willingness to work on general education teams and provide collaborative special education services with general education teachers is required.

Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals and to effectively direct the work delegated to them.

Experience with evaluation and eligibility determination for special education services preferred.

Develops and implements annual Individualized Educational Program (IEP) plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.

Adheres to procedural requirements, including due process timelines.

Coordinates the delivery of special education services in each student's IEP.

Establishes and maintains classroom management techniques in the classroom and during school activities by communicating expectations of appropriate behavior.

Collaborates and consults with educational professionals and community service providers (i.e., social services, public health, medical providers, etc.) regarding the needs of students. Provides consultation to classroom teachers regarding classroom adaptations, instructional modifications, adaptive equipment, behavior modification plans, and other similar instructional interventions to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Attends training sessions, conferences, seminars, district, and departmental meetings. Keeps abreast of changing developments, trends, instructional and educational technologies.

Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature or as assigned.

Knowledge of District policies, rules, and regulations.

Utilizes proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, and English speaking skills.

Works with students, District personnel, and the general public in a pleasant and cooperative manner.

Understands and follows complex oral and written instruction and completes assignments in an independent manner.

Analyzes situation and takes appropriate action regarding routine/emergency procedural matters without immediate supervision.

Plans, organizes, and coordinates assigned tasks to meet established timelines.

Maintains professional confidentiality and works collaboratively with peers.

Possesses knowledge of technology to present lessons, communicate with others, and keep records.
SALARY: Based on the Le Sueur-Henderson Education Associations Master Agreement.
